Organic viticulture
In international comparison, Austria is one of the pioneers of environmentally conscious wine production. Although organic farming is present on all continents, only ten countries are home to 91% of the organically farmed areas. Despite its smaller vineyard area, Austria is at the top of the major wine-growing countries worldwide (as of 2022), and the organically certified area in Austria has almost doubled in the last five years.
